According to the Book of Rhymes (Jiyun), pronounced hong. Honghong describes the rapid flow of water. It is the same as the character for hong (the variant form). According to the Jade Chapters (Yupian), it also refers to wading across a river on foot without a boat. It also refers to honghong, describing the swirling motion of water. As cited in the River Rhapsody (Jiang fu) by Guo Pu: The swirling and eddying of the deep waters.
