In the History of Tang (Tangshu), [Biography of Lu Changyuan]: Raised the price of salt, lowered the price of silk fabrics.
In the History of the Five Dynasties (Wudaishi): When Emperor Taizu of Later Zhou was campaigning in the west, Wang Zhang supplied military provisions. The salaries of all officials were taken from the surplus military supplies. Those of inferior quality were ordered by the relevant departments to have their prices raised. After a price was set, it was then increased again; this was called tai'gu.
