In the Explanations of Names (Shi Ming), it states: The center part of a bow is called a fu. Fu means to touch or hold. It is where a person holds and touches the bow.
In the Expanded Rhymes (Guang Yun), it states: A fu is the middle grip of a bow.
In the Book of Rites (Liji), it states: Use the left hand to support the grip.
