According to Tang Rhymes (Tangyun), Collection of Rhymes (Jiyun), and Rhyme Meeting (Yunhui), pronounced bo.
According to Jade Chapter (Yupian), it describes a horse with an impure coat color.
In the Erya (Erya), section on domestic animals: A red horse with white hair is called bo.
In the Book of Changes (Yijing), commentary on the hexagrams: The Qian hexagram symbolizes a piebald horse.
In the Book of Odes (Shijing), Odes of Bin: The yellow and white horse is called huang, the red and white horse is called bo.
Also, in the Erya, section on trees: Bo refers to a red plum. According to the commentary, the fruit of the plum tree that is red is called bo.
Furthermore, it is commonly used to describe things that are mixed or complex, and the clearing of clouds or fog is called jiebo.
