In the Book of Changes (Yijing), commentary on the hexagrams: The Qian hexagram symbolizes a piebald horse. In the Book of Odes (Shijing), Odes of Bin: The yellow and white horse is called huang, the red and white horse is called bo. Also, in the Erya, section on trees: Bo refers to a red plum. According to the commentary, the fruit of the plum tree that is red is called bo.
