Si Collection, Upper Volume Radical: Water (shuǐ) Yong Kangxi strokes: 13 Page 626, Entry 19 Pronounced yǒng. According to the Explaining and Analyzing Characters (Shuowen), it means to surge. In the Upper Forest Rhapsody (Shanglin fu) by Sima Xiangru, it is used in the phrase surging and rushing. It is also the name of a river. In the Commentary on the Water Classic (Shuijing), it is recorded that when the Yangtze River reaches Huarong County, the Yong River flows into it from the east. In the Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), it is sometimes written in a variant form.
