According to the Yupian (Jade Chapter), it means a prolonged rain. The Yunhui states it refers to rain lasting for more than ten days. Furthermore, in the Huainanzi (Huainanzi), it is stated: Yu washed and bathed in the prolonged rain. The Jiyun notes it is sometimes written in a variant form (zhan).
