According to the Extensive Rhyme (Guangyun), the pronunciation is xian.
According to the Jade Chapters (Yupian), it is defined as the omasum of a cow.
The Extensive Rhyme (Guangyun) refers to the muscular part of the stomach.
The Classification Dictionary (Leipian) cites the scholar Fu Qian: animals with horns have xian, and those without horns have du (stomach). Another theory states that the thick fleshy part of the stomach is called xian.
