Shuowen: White silk.
Shiming: Wan means brilliant. Fine, lustrous, and shining, it appears brilliant.
Annotation to the Emergency Aid Text (Jijiupian): Wan is a lightweight type of plain white silk.
History of the Former Han (Qianhan shu), Treatise on Geography: Weaving ice-wan, patterned silk, embroidery, and pure, beautiful objects.
Annotation: Ru Chun says: Wan is white and processed. Chen Zan says: Ice-wan is a type of wan that is fine, dense, and firm as ice.
