According to the Sound Compilation (Jiyun), pronounced sen. It is the same as the character written with the clothing radical. It refers to the appearance of clothes or feathers hanging down.
According to the Rhapsody on the Sweet Springs Palace (Ganquan Fu) by Yang Xiong: "The curtains draped in a wriggling, hanging manner, with elaborate, flowing ornaments." The commentary by Shigu states: "The phrasing refers to the appearance of carriage decorations."
Also according to the Sound Compilation (Jiyun), pronounced xian. The main fabric panel of a banner is called shan.
Also pronounced shan. Refers to the streamers on a banner.
According to the Rhapsody on the Great Man (Daren Fu) by Sima Xiangru: "Suspending the star of the beginning to serve as streamers." The commentary states: "Shan, pronounced shan, refers to the tassels on a flag."
