It is composed of the radical for door and the radical for mouth. According to the Yu Pian (Jade Chapter), the Book of Documents (Shangshu) mentions the term Qiming, which is also written as a variant form (qi) in original texts. According to the Erya (Approaching Elegance), the Morning Star is called Qiming. The commentary notes that this is the planet Venus. When it appears in the east in the morning, it is called Qiming; when it appears in the west at dusk, it is called Taibai. Note that the Book of Odes (Shijing), in the Xiaoya section, writes it as qi.
