According to Expanded Rhymes (Guangyun) and Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), the pronunciation is qian (level tone). In the Cangjie Anthology (Cangjie pian), three li of fields is called qian. Furthermore, according to Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), it is a common variant form of the character written in ancient times as qian.
