In the Jade Treasury (Yupian), it denotes twenty combined. It is now used directly as the character for twenty.
As stated in the Treatise on Examining the Sages (Jisheng Fu) by Yan Zhitui: How numerous are the people of Zhongshan, having one hundred and twenty sons. How numerous were the offspring of the Old Woman of Wei, giving birth to forty at once.
