Pronounced min (rising tone). The appearance of water. In the Poetry of Du Fu (Du Fu shi): The spring current is clear and expansive.
Also, per the Erya: Explaining Ancient Words (Erya shigu), min means to exhaust. In the Book of Documents (Shangshu), chapter Kang Gao: Heaven has given us the constant morality of the people, which has been greatly exhausted and disordered.
Also, minmin, similar to vast and boundless. In the Book of Documents (Shangshu), chapter Lu Xing: Boundless and chaotic.
Also, pronounced min (level tone). The meaning is the same.
Also, the name of a marsh. In the Classic of Mountains and Seas (Shanhaijing): From Lingsang Mountain, looking west toward Min Marsh.
Also, pronounced mian (falling tone). Xuanmin means mixed or blended. Another interpretation is the appearance of the eyes being unsettled. In the Rhapsody on the Great Man (Daren fu) by Sima Xiangru: My eyes were dazed and unsteady, and I could see nothing.
