According to the Explaining Graphs and Analyzing Characters (Shuowen), it is the name of a mountain located outside the western border of Jiandi in Shu. Originally written as a different form, composed of the mountain radical and a phonetic component. Xu states: It is now written as min. Kong Yingda states: The mountain is in Liangzhou, and it is the source of the Yangtze River. Additionally, the Historical Records (Shiji) commentary states: The mountain is located in Minzhou, overflowing south of the Luo River for one li, and continues continuously to Shu for two thousand li, all called Min Mountain. Dai Tong states: It is located to the northwest of present-day Weimao Prefecture and extends eastward to Xia-zhou. It is also the name of a prefecture. In the Qin dynasty, it was part of Lintao County in Longxi Commandery; during the Northern Wei dynasty, Minzhou was established there. It is named after the mountain. It is sometimes written in a variant form. According to the Compilation of Rhymes (Yunhui), it is also commonly written as wen. According to the Classic of Mountains and Seas (Shanhaijing), the great river emerges from the southeast of Wenguo, passes through Shu Commandery, and reaches the sea at Guangling to the northeast. According to the Historical Records (Shiji), Annals of Xia, the Wen and Bo regions have already been cultivated.
