Mò; Kangxi stroke count: 9; Page: Page 493, Entry 15
Guangyun pronunciation: Mò bō qiè, pronounced the same as "mò". Meaning: the sky is dim when the sun is high in the sky, also refers to the name of a star. Quoted from "Book of Changes (Yijing)" "Rì zhōng jiàn mò". Yin Yi and Zilin write it as "mò", referring to the star behind the handle of the Big Dipper. It also has a pronunciation the same as "mèi". Note: The original "Book of Changes (Yijing)·Feng Gua" was written as "mò". Yin Yi says: Zilin writes it as "mèi", pronounced wáng tài fǎn, referring to the star behind the handle of the Big Dipper. Wang Su says: the pronunciation is "mèi", and there is no pronunciation "mò". "History of the Former Han Dynasty (Qian Hanshu)·Wuxing Zhi" quotes "Book of Changes (Yijing)" and only writes it as "mèi", suspecting that the record in Guangyun is incorrect. In addition, the character "mèi" is not in "Shuowen Jiezi". Fu Qian says: the meaning is that the sky is dim at noon. Jiyun: the meaning is that the sky is not bright at noon. Zhengzitong quotes it as coming from "Shuowen Jiezi", which is a particularly serious error.
