Pronounced lu. According to the Tang Rhyme (Tangyun) and the Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), the pronunciation is the same as the character for lu. The Explaining Graphs and Analyzing Characters (Shuowen Jiezi) defines it as grasping or holding with the hand. According to the Dialects (Fangyan) by Yang Xiong, it is defined as to open or spread out. Another interpretation is to pull or drag. It also carries the meaning of to gather or collect.
According to the Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), pronounced lu. In the term zhu-lu, it means to gather or restrain. Sometimes written in a variant form (shu).
Pronounced luo. It means to select or pick. It is the same as the character for luo.
