Haipian says the pronunciation is lin. It is pronounced the same as the character for jade luster (lin). It refers to the appearance of water flowing clearly between stones.
Book of Odes (Shijing), Tangfeng section says: The water rises, white stones appear lin-lin.
Commentary and annotation: Lin-lin describes the appearance of water that is clear and pure. This character is also written in a variant form (lin).
Also, in the Supplement to the Rhyme Compendium (Yunhui bu), the pronunciation is lin. It is pronounced the same as the character for rocky (lin). It refers to the hidden, rocky waters of a river.
The Ocean of Characters (Pianhai) states this character is the same as the previously written form.
