Book of Rites (Liji), Tan Gong chapter: When people offer condolences or attend a funeral, they must grasp the ropes used to pull the hearse. If they accompany the coffin to the burial pit, they all hold the large ropes used to guide the coffin.
It also refers to the appearance of an open and vast wilderness.
