Ancient form. Pronounced kuang (falling tone).
Shuowen Jiezi (Dictionary of Explanations of Characters): Bright.
History of the Later Han (Hou Hanshu), Biography of Dou Rong: Then it is as bright as uncovering the morning mist. Commentary: Kuang means bright.
Book of Documents (Shangshu), Counsels of Gao Yao: Do not leave the various offices vacant. Commentary: Kuang means empty.
History of the Former Han (Hanshu), Biography of Jia Shan: Vacating the days for ten years. Commentary: Shigu says: Kuang means empty, or neglected.
Liu Zhen, Poem for the Commander of the Five Officials: Extending for more than ten decades. Commentary: Cangjie Pian says: Kuang means distant and expansive.
Also, Guangya (Encyclopedia of Antiquities): Kuang means far. Kuangkuang means large.
Pianhai (Sea of Characters): Long duration, also to open up.
