Pronounced ju. Same as the term jù (stand). It refers to the base of a bell or drum.
Records of the Grand Historian (Shiji): Gathered the weapons of the world and collected them at Xianyang. They were melted down and cast into bell stands.
Commentary: Ju is pronounced ju.
Also, pronounced ju. A musical instrument. Its shape resembles a jiazhong (a type of bell) and it is fashioned from wood.
Zhuangzi (Zhuangzi): Zi Qing carved wood to create a ju. Once the ju was completed, all who saw it marveled, as if it had been fashioned by spirits.
