Si Collection, Lower Volume Radical: Ox (niú) Kangxi Strokes: 14 Page 703, Entry 24 Pronounced jie. In the Shuowen Jiezi (Explaining Single-component Characters and Analyzing Compound Characters), it refers to a castrated ox. In the External Objects chapter of the Zhuangzi (Master Zhuang), it is written: Ren Gongzi fashioned a massive fishhook and a long black cord, using fifty castrated oxen as bait. The commentary notes that this term refers to castrated oxen. Additionally, according to the Yupian (Jade Chapters), it refers to leaping.
