Book of Erya (Erya), Interpretation of Trees: The kuài is characterized by cypress-like leaves and a pine-like trunk.
Book of Yiya (Yiya): Its nature is cold-resistant; the tree grows large and may be used for coffins and boats.
Book of Odes (Shijing), Odes of Wei (Weifeng): Kuài oars and pine boats.
Also refers to coffin decorations.
Book of Zuo (Zuozhuan), Second Year of Duke Cheng: The coffin has side decorations (hàn) and top decorations (kuài).
Commentary by Du Yu: Hàn refers to the side decorations; kuài refers to the decorations on top of the coffin.

Commentary by Zheng Xuan: Hàn refers to the side decorations. Based on the original text of the Zheng commentary, it is corrected to the Du commentary.
