Ban Gu, Western Capital Rhapsody (Xidu fu): Cang, guo, you, and yi birds. Sima Xiangru, Rhapsody on Master Void (Zixu fu): A pair of cang birds descends. Commentary: They are cang-guo birds. Also, Broad Rhymes (Guangyun): Pronounced gua. The cang-guo is a bird with feathers growing in reverse and nine tails. Outer Commentary to the Han School (Hanshi waizhuan): Confucius crossed the river and saw a bird that looked strange, and none of the crowd could identify it.
