Also, zhōnggòu refers to the deep, secluded, and intricate parts of a palace. "Words from the inner chambers" — Book of Odes (Shijing), Odes of Yong (Yōng fēng). In the Biography of King Gong of Liang from the Former Han (Qian Han), it says: "heard words from the inner chambers." Commentary: Ying Shao says: Zhōnggòu refers to timber structures within a hall.
