According to the Book of Broad Rhymes (Guangyun) and the Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), it is pronounced jiang.
According to the Jade Chapters (Yupian), it means lacking charm.
Also, according to the Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), it is pronounced hu.
According to the Book of Broad Rhymes (Guangyun), it means to bear a burden. It is also used as a variant form for the term kou (ignorant).
As stated in the History of the Former Han (Qian Hanshu), section on the Five Elements (Wuxingzhi): Disrespectful and ignorant, this is what causes the obscuring mist.
Also, according to the Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), it is pronounced kou. It also means to be without knowledge.
In the Works of Xunzi (Xunzi), chapter on the Effectiveness of the Confucians (Ruxiao pian), it is written as foolish and ignorant. In common editions of the Works of Xunzi, it is erroneously written as gou.
