Broad Rhymes (Guangyun): A type of bamboo, found in the region of Shu.
Sea of Characters (Pianhai): A bamboo that has thorns.
Treatise on Bamboo (Zhupu): Thorny bamboo grows in dense clusters, forming a forest. The roots are shaped like chariot wheels, and the nodes are like bundled needles. It is also called Ba bamboo, used for city fortifications. Its sprouts are edible, but consuming them causes hair loss.
Note: The sprouts of the Ba bamboo have a flavor that causes people's hair to fall out.
