According to Tangyun, Yunhui, and Zhengyun, the pronunciation is Pú mò qiè. According to Jiyun, it is Báo mò qiè. Pronounced as bèi. Explaining Simple and Analyzing Compound Characters (Shuowen Jiezi): "To push." Formed from the Power (lì) radical, with bèi as the phonetic component. Xu Yue comments: "Refers to a sudden surge, pushing something away." Also, according to Yupian: "Sudden." Yunhui states: "Bózú (勃卒) describes the appearance of suddenly letting go." Also, the appearance of changing color. Analects (Lunyu): "His countenance changed sharply." Also, a surname. Yunhui states: "Emperor Wu of Liang changed the surname of King Yuzhang to Bó." Also, interchangeable with Bó (渤). Book of Han (Hanshu), Treatise on Geography: "South of Jì, connecting Qí and Zhào, between Bó and Jié." Yan Shigu's commentary states: "Bó refers to Bohai Sea." Also, a rhyming variant, pronounced Píliè qiè, with a checked tone. Su Che, "Poem on the Pavilion of Prince Teng": "My thoughts belong to rivers and lakes, climbing to linger among the forgotten battlements. The proud king should laugh at Teng, the wild guest also takes pride in Bó." Note: Wang Bó was a person of the Tang dynasty.
