Ancient form. According to Collection of Rhymes (Jiyun), pronounced bi. Beans. Also bi-kun, name of a plant, which is the curly dock. Also bi-ba, name of a medicinal herb. According to Miscellaneous Morsels from Youyang (Youyang Zazu), it is produced in Magadha, the seedlings are three to four feet tall, the stems are as thin as chopsticks, the leaves resemble those of the chameleon plant, and the fruits resemble mulberries. Also refers to brambles. According to Extensive Dictionary of Rhymes (Guangyun), same as bi. According to Book of Rites (Liji), Rites of the Literati, refers to a door woven from brambles and a small door opening shaped like a gui jade scepter. Also, according to Tang Rhyme (Tangyun), pronounced bi. Meaning is the same.
