The same as the character for table (àn). Also, in Records of Ear and Eye (Er mu zhi) by Zeng Gong of the Song Dynasty, it is recorded that Meng Guang raised the tray to the level of her eyebrows. In common usage, this is directly understood as a small table. Lu Shaowei says: The character for tree (àn) is actually the ancient character for bowl (wǎn); therefore, it refers to raising a bowl to match the height of one's eyebrows. In the poem Four Melancholies (Si chou shi) by Zhang Heng, the line mentioning a green jade table refers to a green jade bowl. Based on this, the reference in Artificers' Record (Kaogong ji) to a table of twelve inches should also be interpreted in this way to be correct.
