Shuowen Jiezi (Explaining Simple and Compounding Characters) states this refers to the yuezhuo, a mythical bird. The Classics of Birds (Qin Jing) states that a purple phoenix is called zhuó. The Rhyme Compendium (Yunhui) adds that in the Yangtze River there is a yuezhuo, which resembles a wild duck but is larger, being a different species. Also pronounced zú. The meaning is the same. Lu Ji's Seven Signs (Qi Zheng) states: Dancing in the Tang courtyard to herald harmony, singing in Qiyang like the yuezhuo. Embracing the auspicious decree of heaven, bearing the great blessings of divine hearing.
