Jiyun (Jíyùn), Yunhui (Yùnhuì), and Zhengyun (Zhèngyùn) give the pronunciation yī zhēn qiè, sounding like yīn. Yupian (Yùpiān) defines it as 'to block' or 'to stop up'. In the 'Great Plan' chapter of the Book of Documents (Shūjīng), it states: 'Gun blocked the great flood'. Guangyun (Guǎngyùn) notes its original form was 垔 (yīn). It is also written as 堙 (yīn).
