Pronounced yin. The name of a river.
History of the Former Han (Qianhan shu), Geography Treatise: Located in Xihe Commandery, Bing Province.
Commentary on the Water Classic (Shuijing zhu): The Yellow River flows south past the east of Yinyang County. The Yin River emerges from the Yin Valley in Baitu County, Shang Commandery; it flows south through the south of that county, then east through Yinyin County, and flows south to enter the Yellow River. Yinyin was established in the fifth year of Emperor Hui of the Han dynasty; Wang Mang changed its name to Fangyin.
