Pronounced yi. According to Explaining Graphs and Analysis of Characters (Shuowen Jiezi), a small room attached to the side of a pavilion.
Also, pronounced chi. Chambers and palace rooms connected to one another are called yi. According to the Er Ya, Explanation of Vessels (Er Ya, Shiqi), connected rooms are called yi. Commentary: Small rooms by the side of halls and pavilions are currently called yi, referring to connected observation towers. Sub-commentary: Yi is the name for small rooms connected to the side of a pavilion.

Textual research: The Correct Rhymes (Zhengyun) states the pronunciation is yan-zhi, with the sound chi. Careful note: the reading yan-zhi corresponds to the pronunciation of the character yi and is not the pronunciation for the character chi.
