Note: To speak together. Yan (讌) is the same as the character yan (燕).
Also, in the Jade Chapter (Yupian), yan (讌) means to set up.
In the Extensive Rhymes (Guangyun), it means a feast or gathering. It is the same as the character yan (醼).
History of the Later Han (Hou Hanshu), Biography of Fan Zhun: Every time they gathered for a feast, they debated with enthusiasm.
History of the Jin (Jinshu), Biography of Wang Xizhi: He wished to sit with friends and relatives for a happy gathering.
