According to Jade Chapter (Yupian), it is a mud-colored piebald horse. According to Progressing towards Refinement (Erya), in the section explaining domestic animals, it is described as a horse with black and white mixed hair. The commentary states that the dark color is a light black; when hair is light black and white and mixed together, it is now called a mud-colored piebald horse. In the Book of Odes (Shijing), in the section Lesser Odes (Xiaoya), it is written: My horses are piebald.
