Wu Collection, Lower Volume Radical: Stone (shí) Gong Kangxi stroke count: 13 Page 832, Entry 13 Collected Rhymes (Jiyun) and Correct Rhymes (Zhengyun) state the pronunciation is yin. The character gong means the same as qianyan (recessed and craggy). As stated in the Rhapsody on the Capital of Wu (Wudu fu) by Zuo Si: It stretches across several provinces. The commentary explains this as the appearance of being deep, dangerous, and continuous. Collected Rhymes (Jiyun) notes it is also written as the variant form yin.
