It is a surname, the descendants of Emperor Shun. The Zuo Tradition (Zuozhuan), Year 1 of Duke Ai, records: When Shaokang fled to the state of Youyu, Yusi gave two women of the Yao surname to him as wives. It also refers to a beautiful appearance. The Xunzi, Non-Physiognomy chapter, says: Beautiful and bewitching. It is also the name of a province.
