Book of Changes (Yijing): Regarding the hexagram Jiji, it mentions a tattered garment.
History of the Former Han (Qianhan): In the biography of Zhong Jun, it mentions a border official giving Jun a xu.
Commentary: Su Lin states that xu refers to the selvage of silk. In ancient times, when entering or leaving a pass, one used a passport (chuan). When the passport was returned, the edge of the silk cloth was torn off to serve as a tally for verification.
Leipian (Leipian): Also refers to a fine, dense net. Sometimes also written in a variant form (shu).
Used as a personal name.
Zuo Tradition (Zuozhuan): In the second year of Duke Yin, it is recorded that Ji Liexu came to receive the bride.
Jiyun (Jiyun): Pronounced ru. The meaning is the same.
