Guangyun, Jiyun, Yunhui, and Zhengyun state it is pronounced xian (rising tone).
Yupian notes it is the name of a mountain located in present-day Xiangyang.
Book of Jin (Jinshu), Biography of Yang Hu: Yang Hu and Deng Runfu climbed Mountain Xian and wept, stating that the mountain had existed since the dawn of time, and thus they erected a monument to commemorate the event. Later generations referred to it as the Monument of Shedding Tears.
Also, Great Xian is a mountain name located in the regions of Qingzhou and Qizhou.
Jiyun states it refers to a mountain that is small but precipitous. One source suggests it refers to a mountain peak with a flat top.
