In Explaining Graphs and Analyzing Characters (Shuowen), it states that the people of Chu refer to a younger sister as mei. In History of the Tang Dynasty (Tangshu), Biographical Section on the Imperial Clan, it refers to Princess Tong'an as the younger sister born of the same mother as Emperor Gaozu.
