History of the Former Han (Qianhan Shu), Biography of Wang Mang: To fasten his neck with iron shackles and chains. Note: Langdang refers to long chains. Ban Gu, Preface to the History of the Former Han (Xuzhuan): To be bound by the reins and locks of fame and reputation. Baopuzi, Discourses on Hermits (Yimin juan): To bend a sword of Longquan to be used as a chisel or lock. Zhengzitong (Zhengzitong): Chainmail armor, consisting of five interlocking rings; one ring receives the arrowhead, while the other rings protect and support it, thus arrows cannot penetrate. Du Fu, Poetry: The rain casts upon the golden locked armor. Jiyun (Jiyun): Sometimes also written in a variant form (suo).
