Shu wen (Explaining Graphs and Analyzing Characters) states it is the dawn. Yu pian (Jade Chapters) states it is the brightening of the east. Lei pian (Classified Chapters) states it is morning. Huainanzi (Huainanzi), Chapter on Astronomical Teachings (Tianwen xun): The sun enters the flooded margins of Yu abyss, and dawns at the banks of the Meng valley. Annotation: Shu means bright.
