Pronounced sen.
According to the Explaining Graphs and Analyzing Characters (Shuowen Jiezi), it refers to piling brushwood in water to gather fish.
Also, according to the Broad Rhymes (Guangyun), it is a variant of the character pronounced sen.
In the Erya (Erya), it is defined as a submerged structure for trapping fish. The commentary notes that people today build these structures by piling wood in the water; when the water grows cold, fish enter the branches to hide, allowing them to be easily captured with a net. The sub-commentary states that the two characters are ancient and modern variations of each other.
