Pronounced shen. A name of a state. As recorded in the Zuo Tradition (Zuozhuan), during the Shang dynasty, there were the states of Shen and Pi.
Also pronounced xi. Also pronounced sun. Also pronounced xian. All are names of ancient states.
Also pronounced xian. Describes the appearance of walking. It is interchangeable with the character shan. As recorded in the Imperial Park Rhapsody (Shanglin fu) by Sima Xiangru: bianxian, describing the appearance of graceful, swaying, or rotating dance movements or gait.
