Zi Collection, Page Position: Lower Radical: Seal (jié) The character is shào; Kangxi Strokes: 7; Page Number: Page 159, Entry 17 According to Tang Rhyme (Tangyun), Jiyun, and Yunhui, the pronunciation is shìzhào qiē and shízhào qiē, respectively, both sounding like shào. Shuowen Jiezi (Shuowen Jiezi) explains it as "high". The character form consists of the radical jié as the semantic component and zhào as the phonetic component. It describes someone of advanced age and lofty character. If written with the yì radical, it is incorrect. Yangzi Fayan (Yangzi Fayan) records: Zhǒng and Lí did not exert themselves to remonstrate but instead retired to the mountains; their virtue was not yet sufficient to be called "shào". Also, Jiyun notes the pronunciation as shíráo qiē, sounding like sháo. The meaning is the same.
