It means a neighboring house. Sometimes also written as "". "Yunhui" writes it as "廈". "Jianyun" considers the inclusion of the "Cliff" radical to be incorrect. 廈 "Tangyun" provides the pronunciation as "hú yǎ qiè." "Jiyun," "Yunhui," and "Zhengyun" provide the pronunciation as "hài yǎ qiè." The pronunciation is the same as "xià." "Shuowen Jiezi" explains it as: a house. "Yupian" explains it as: currently refers to a porch. Also, "Yunhui" records that it can be used as a phonetic loan for "xià." In "Tan Gong" from "Liji" (Book of Rites), there is the sentence "One saw it as if covering a summer house." Annotation: The current porch is wide and tall. Also, "Jiyun" explains it as: a large house. In Emperor Taizong of Tang's poem "Ascending Santai," there is the sentence "What is pleasing is forming a large house." Etymology of "廈": "Yupian" originally wrote it as "the covered walkway of a door," and it has now been changed to "the current porch" based on the original text.
