In the Preface to the Spring and Autumn Annals (Chunqiu Xu), it refers to genealogical records. The annotation notes that the character for genealogy was originally also written as pǔ. It is also used in personal names. The name Pǔyú Pǔ appears in the History of Song (Songshi), Table of the Imperial Clan.
