Broad Rhymes (Guangyun), Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), Rhyme Meetings (Yunhui), Correct Rhymes (Zhengyun): Pronounced kuo. The end of an arrow is called a kuo. It refers to the place where the arrow meets the bowstring.
Broad Rhymes (Guangyun): An arrow notch is the part that receives the bowstring.
Lu Ji, Poem Presented to the Wife of Gu Yanxian: Separations and reunions have no fixed state, just like the bowstring and the arrow notch.
Additionally, Collected Rhymes (Jiyun): Pronounced kuo. The meaning is the same. It is also synonymous with the character kuo.
