Tang Rhymes (Tangyun): Pronounced ke.
Collected Rhymes (Jiyun): A type of grass. It is a sea onion. Also a type of vine.
Jade Chapters (Yupian): Ke vine, found by the seashore.
Essential Techniques for the Welfare of the People (Qimin Yaoshu): The ke vine is several inches in circumference and heavier than bamboo. It can be split into strips to bind boats, and when woven into mats, it is superior to bamboo. Its tender vines bear fruit that is extremely sour and slick, making for a vegetable unlike any other.
Note: The Correct Character Guide (Zhengzitong) states that there is no such vine as the ke, likely because it has not yet examined the Jade Chapters and other related texts.
